Local elections and coronavirus, 6 May 2021

The Government has now confirmed that local elections will go ahead as planned on the 6 May 2021. To ensure that you can vote as safely as possible, the Labour Party strongly urges you to apply for a postal vote.

County Council elections take place every four years. The next elections will take place as planned on Thursday 6 May 2021.

Elections for Suffolk’s Police and Crime Commissioner take place every four years. The last election was due to take place on Thursday 7 May 2020 but was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic. The next election will now take place on Thursday 6 May 2021 on the same day as Suffolk County Council elections.

Several by-elections to fill vacancies on Parish and Town Councils have arisen in the Suffolk Coastal CLP area since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. These by-elections have been deferred until Thursday 6 May 2021 on the same day as Suffolk County Council elections.
