Labour have called on the Government for a plan to clear NHS waiting lists as analysis revealed the response to coronavirus has caused huge delays for vital scans and diagnostic tests. The renewed calls come after Ministers boasted the NHS ‘coped’ through the peak of coronavirus and the Government failed to promise the NHS and social care services whatever they needed to weather a potential second wave.
The truth is that to get us through the peak of the coronavirus operations have been cancelled and patients with long-term conditions have gone without the treatment they nee.
But we must not forget the NHS entered the health crisis after years of bed cuts, privatisation and chronic understaffing by Conservative governments. These issues aren’t going away. Calls to fund the NHS so patients can get the care they need must not go unanswered.
Labour created the NHS and will always campaign to protect it so it can protect you.
