Local elections and coronavirus, 6 May 2021

Current advice from the Government is there is a "strong expectation" that local elections will go ahead as planned on the 6 May 2021, but this may be subject to change depending on circumstances. To ensure that you can vote as safely as possible, the Labour Party strongly urges you to apply for a postal vote.

County Council elections take place every four years. The next elections are scheduled to take place on Thursday 6 May 2021. This date may be subject to change by the Government depending on circumstances.

Elections for Suffolk’s Police and Crime Commissioner take place every four years. The last election was due to take place on Thursday 7 May 2020 but was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic. The next election is now due to take place on Thursday 6 May 2021 on the same day as Suffolk County Council elections. This date may be subject to change by the Government depending on circumstances.

Several by-elections to fill vacancies on Parish and Town Councils have arisen in the Suffolk Coastal CLP area since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. These by-elections are currently deferred until Thursday 6 May 2021 on the same day as Suffolk County Council elections. This date may be subject to change by the Government depending on circumstances.
