Labour is ambitious for Britain. Future generations will judge us by the choices we make today to tackle both the unemployment crisis and the climate and ecological emergency.
Today, Labour challenged the government to ‘Build it in Britain’ again. We’re calling for £30 billion of urgent investment to support 400,000 clean, new jobs of the future through a green economic recovery from the Covid crisis which will:
- Recover Jobs with urgent investment to support up to 400,000 clean, green jobs across the country
- Retrain Workers with an emergency training programme to give people skills they need for the future greener economy
- Rebuild Business with a National Investment Bank that supports the drive to a net-zero economy.
Britain faces a jobs crisis and a climate emergency. We need decisive action now to recover jobs, retrain workers and rebuild businesses.
Our report sets out how the Government can deliver high-skilled jobs in every part of the UK as we build a cleaner economy. The time for talking is over — we need bold action to build the low-carbon infrastructure of the future right here in Britain.
As other countries lead the way with investing in a green recovery, Britain is hesitating. It’s time to end the dither and inaction, and start delivering now.
