Thursday 21 November, St Johns Church, St Johns Hill, Woodbridge
This popular pre-election event was attended by four of the five parliamentary candidates. The wide-ranging debate covered some of the most important national and local issues.
Here’s what Cameron had to say about education:
I think it’s about money and it’s also about building something completely new. I’m sure you’ve all heard Labour’s not messing about on education. Labour is going to build a National Education Service. This will provide education free at the point of use from cradle to grave and, again, it’s something which we have been dying to bring in for a long, long time, and Angela Rayner has done a fantastic job bringing about that policy. It will completely revolutionise education . Also, I believe, Labour has committed to an increase of 5% on teachers’ pay as well as it rising with inflation, so again we must ensure that we pay our teachers properly because they are educating the future generation as well.
