Cameron Matthew’s Green New Deal for Suffolk Coastal has received a ringing endorsement from leading economist Ann Pettifor:
“I am backing Cameron Matthews because he is standing on a manifesto – the Green New Deal – that would increase public investment in Suffolk education, transport and jobs. At the same time Cameron is backing policies that would support Suffolk’s voters by tackling climate breakdown including the threat of flooding, water shortages and the disruption of crops.”
Ann Pettifor is Director of the Policy Research in Macroeconomics network and a council member of the Progressive Economy Forum. She is the author of “The Production of Money” (Verso, 2011), and “The Case for The Green New Deal” (Verso, 2019). In 2018 she was awarded the Hannah Arendt Prize for Political Thought by the Heinrich Böll Foundation.
